160611: What matters is how you finish the race.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7)

Paul’s time in this world is almost up. He is in prison and death is imminent. As he looked back in his life, he counsels Timothy and gives him encouragement to be faithful in preaching the Word of God despite the persecutions and hardships that comes from being an evangelist.

Paul can look back at ending his earthly life with joy confident that because he has kept the faith, eternal life follows on the day of Jesus’ coming.

“Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”  (2 Timothy 4:8)

Fight the good fight. Finish the race.  Keep the faith.

160209: Race for Life

“For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.” (Rom 5:17)

God gave us all an abundant provision of grace thru His Son Jesus.

Whether we reign in life or in death depends on what we do with God’s gift of grace.

We won’t even be in the race for life unless we accept the grace of God.

“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.” (Titus 2:11)
