As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” (Mark 10:17)
The rich young man was asking the wrong question. He assumed that there is something man can work for in order to have eternal life. Jesus knew this and reminded the rich man that it is not by obedience to the laws of Moses. Jesus showed great love for the rich man before stating the 2 things we must all do if we want to inherit eternal life:
“One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” (Mark 10:21)
Let go of our worldly desires then follow Jesus.
“With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” (Mark 10:27)
Salvation and eternal life is thru Jesus.
