160309: The power of the good news

“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.”(Rom1:16)

Paul stated the theme of his love letter to the Roman believers. It is all about the power of proclaiming the good news to bring about saving faith for all who believe.

For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” (v17)

God calls all believers to live a holy life.

By our own power we can’t but by faith we can live a righteous life in Jesus.

160204: Pathway to holiness

“See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.” (Heb 12:15)

In Jesus, the grace of God is revealed to us. In faith we accept Jesus us our Lord and saviour and take part in God’s grace. Yet we are warned that we can receive grace yet miss it’s power at work in our lives.

“Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.” (v14)

Holiness is an essential fruit of God’s grace.

Without holiness a bitter kind of root grows up in its place.

But if we remain in Chirst and Christ remains in us we are certain to walk the pathway of holiness in our life journey.
